Nevyansk – the “grandfather” of the Urals plants (one of the oldest metallurgical ñenters in the Urals)
This tour is a must for anyone who is interested in the
history of one of the richest regions in the world, the Urals.
The tour introduces you to Nevyansk, an ancient factory-town,
located 86 km from Ekaterinburg. You’ll get to know the history of the mining
and metallurgical industry in the Urals, and some intriguing facts about the
Demidov dynasty of the 18th century, which started the town.
You’ll visit the Museum of Local Lore and a unique monument
of the past: the Leaning Tower of Nevyansk. You’ll learn some of the secrets
of “the acoustic room”, and the mechanism of the Nevyansk clock and the
steeple.
The craftsmen of Nevyansk were the
first in the Urals who deal with art casting from ferrous metals, making the
unique Nevyansk icons (named after the town of Nevyansk), nice chests with
ferrous binding and many other things.
