NATIONAL PARK 13 CENTURY

“13th Century National Park” is located in Erdene country, Yol mountain 96km
from Ulaanbaatar. The 13th century national park is build and established for
real-time kingdom to make the lively feeling for its guests during their stay by
genuinely providing true environment of the way of living and working of the
13th century. All the atmosphere is real and magnificent with no electric pole,
no radio and TV.
Visitors can enjoy annual celebrations, customs such as making felt cover for
ghers, sling wool, sacred ceremony to praise flag, heaven by sacrificing,
wedding, weeping camel, mare milking, sealing folks and organizing three games
of men. Here the guests can dine with Khans and Queens visit the residents of
lords and learn to write in Mongolian scripts and play in horse-headed fiddle
/Morin khuur/.
“13th Century National Park” consisted with six camps and tribes provide the
service to the tourists.
Camp of craftsmen
Blacksmiths and the craftsmen work of XIII century Mongolians were very
popular in the World. In the craftsmen camp you will enjoy seeing the craftsmen
art work such as horsehold utensils, women’s ornaments, jewelry, arms and tools
etc. Having visited to the complex you will be amazed by their works, woolen
felt items, and handmade carpets.

Camp of shamans
Following the customs of each clans, the Shamans of Mongolian different clans
gather around fireplace under one common sky and perform a ritual to worship
unanimously aiming for one common deed. Several kinds of Shaman ritual of
worshiping, such as worshiping for 33 heavens, cairn, big fire will be organized
for visitors.
Camp of educational
By visiting this camp you will have an opportunity to get know about the
unique culture of the literacy, traditional way of educating their successors
and young. Besides, tourists and guests are offered practicing in Mongolian
calligraphy, many kinds of Mongolian scripts.
King's Palace
It is the main attraction point of XIII century National Park. You will get
know about the statecraft of XIII century Mongols. All the state affairs such as
declaring the laws, holding a great forum are carried out at the camp. In the
King’s Palace, there will be implemented different programs and receptions. One
of them is King’s Great Feast.
Here, you are able to have Mongolian traditional cuisine and beverage while you
are enjoying Traditional music. Also here it is chance to wear on kings' or
queens' costume.
Camp of herders
The everyday life of herders, pastural cultures, the way of breeding the
lifestock, the methods of producing dairy products, horse training and catching
with lasso pole, tanning the leather straps, riding horse and yak, camel are all
offer to your choice to experience the life of XIII century Mongols.

Relay-station
This camp and tribe will be situated in the complex, inspects any outsider’s

February 8,9,10: |
First month of lunar year. Early 13th century Temujn founded Great Mongolian State and the ceremony of
succession to throne was organized at the end of the last winter mouth of the
blue cattle year and the begin of the first spring month of the red tiger year of
third sexagenary cycle in accordance with the lunar calendar. But according to the
custom common for most eastern nations of that time to celebrate new year in the spring, the festivity
of inauguration of Great Mongolian
United State was shifted to be celebrated together with new year. Thus First month of lunar year began to be celebrated
in the spring since that red tiger year or 1206. This festivity as to some contents
and
forms has been changed from original ones. 13th Centry Complex celebrates this
festivity according to the original customs. |
April 12: |
Ceremony honor of anvil. One of the main factors of becoming
powerful of Mongolia in 13th century was the development of weaponry. In
that time metal processing reached highest level. Chinggis Khaan even had a
state smith whom he gave highest honor. The ceremony in honor of anvil-the
main instrument of smiths has a strict customary ritual. It is demonstrated
to foreign and local guests. |
May 17: |
Castration of young stocks. In order to keep equal numbers male
and female livestock, Mongolians have been celebrating the young stock
castration ceremony on third day of the first month of the spring since
ancient time. This event is performed according to established custom and
regulation which will be demonstrated to foreign and domestic tourists. |
June 28: |
Break in un tamed horses. From ancient time, Mongolians have
broken untamed horses in to use for riding and transport. Catching untamed
horses with hands at horse ears without using any instrument, catching with
lasso and breaking in demonstrate strength, courage and adroitness of
Mongolian men. You will see catching horses and breaking in untamed horses
by horse herder young boys in real term. |
June 5: |
Great Feast of the King It's a custom which had been organized
in XIII century under the auspices of Great Emperor according to a strict
order comprising the public. There's an order of Great Emperor destined by
the Heaven: "Foreign missionaries and representatives arrived having passed
long paths from remote lands regardless of their nursing malicious or good
intents must be invited into residences and feasted with good food and
drinks". According to this order guests will have the opportunity to clink
glasses of drinks with Great Emperor and become honored guests. |
July 13: |
Mini Naadam One of the national holidays of Mongolia is "Three
festivities of men". We are going to organize and show this festivity to
tourists in our complex in its ancient form. It consist of wrestling,
archery, horserace, ankle-joint shooting and art shows in their ancient
form. This undertaking is being organized for second year. |
July 19: |
Duel fighting of warriors Ancient Mongolian warriors in the
result of their excellent physical and psychological preparedness endued
such great battles which resulted in the conquest of half the world. This
show is designed to demonstrate physical strength, might and adroitness of
Mongolian warriors. During this show you will see fighting skills as
shooting moving targets, the hammer and lance, wielding a saber etc. |
July 26: |
Holiday of Mongolian script Script Minister Tatatunga from
Naiman tribe made initially up Mongolian ancient script under Chinggis
Khaan's edict. Since that time, The Mongolian Script has changed and
developed in its shape someway, but Mongolians have been leaving their great
history and heritages as own script for future generation; Special
calligraphies of world only vertical script and its many kinds of forms will
be shown to the honor guests and tourists in Educational camp. |

Mongolian custom of welcoming daughter-in-law The Mongolians
previously establish the day of good fortune for welcoming a
daughter-in-law, inform about it parents of daughter-n-law, and if her
parents agree, then organize wedding ceremony on the established day. Every
tribe and ethnic group has its own custom. We'll show the daughter-in-law
welcoming custom of Khalkh Mongolians. |
August 16: |
"Worshipping of 33 heavens" shamanist ritual A ritual of
worshipping 33 heaves and shamanist spirit, considered one of the biggest
rituals of Shaman, will be performed in Shaman Camp of 13th Century Complex.
Shamans and shamanesses from all Mongolian nationalities come together to
perform this ritual. |
October 5: |
Feast of branding foals On the tiger day midmonth of autumn
according to lunar calendar? Mongolians gather all their horse herds, make
an incense offering to their tethering line and perform foal branding feast.
After having milked mares free foals from their halts, takes away tethering
line, pull out stake holes drop milk and barley. This ceremony has a se that
next year will be taken many young stocks and dairy products. |
October 17,18: |
Mare milk's holiday Mongolians celebrated mare milk's holiday
cause of abundance mare milk, dairy products and crops. We welcomed everyone
to have a chance to get Mongolian all kinds of the special meat barbeque.

THE PROGRAM OF THE TOURIST SEASON-2008
The undertakings organized in tourist season depending on their specifics
have different beginning times. Also will be organized different training
courses where interested tourists may stay in our complex for longer time to
attend these courses and acquire primary and medium level knowledge and

especially zeegt naamal, and shirmel sewing are considered as worldwide
wonder. The sewing methods and technology will be hold at the training by

Mongolian script training, May-August Mongolian script is
considered as only one vertical script in the world, and it was created by
the edict of the great Chinggis Khaan and became state script. The purpose
of the training is let attendants obtain skills of writing ones' names and

Tea ceremony, June-August Mongolia consists of many tribes and ethnic groups, and therefore has different
types of tea. Mongolian tea has its own recipe, different methods of preparing,

putting into cups etc. |

Milk and dairy products training, July-September Mongolians run
animal husbandry meeting the country's features, and use raw materials from
their livestock for their living. They get productivity from their five
major kinds of livestock, produce dairy products, use them for food, and
respect them as first sample food. Mongolian women are specialized in
producing dairy products and the processing methodology and technique,
combined with theory and practice will be shown to tourists. |

Art performances, June-August During your lunch in the palace
of Great Emperor you will enjoy art performances of traditional Mongolian
art ensemble. You will experience Mongolian long songs, play on horse-headed
fiddle, Mongolian national dances, guttural songs, shamanist dances and

Barley making methods and technique, June-August Mongolians get
earth productivity by sowing barley, process it by hand-methods, make flour
with it and use for their food. You will see and learn order of cleaning,
sieving, frying barley, grinding it with hand-made mill, and making flour. |
