TUNKINSKAYA VALLEY
Vyshka (the Tower)
The area named Vyshka (the Tower) is situated 5 kilometers far from the village
of Zhemchug ( Pearl) on the bank of the Irkut – river. In the result of drilling
a chink in 1953-54 thermal water was opened, and the chink received the name of
Zhemchuzhnaya.
Water comes from the depth 728-814 m, the debit comprises up to 1000 cubic
metres of water per day with temperature from 36,5 ° up to 44 °. Water of chinks
is metane, with the small contents of hydrogen sulphide and radon.
It is used for treatment of illnesses of bone-articulate system, peripheral
nervous system, consequences of traumas of the skeleton, diseases of skin and
chronic inflammatory diseases of female genitals.
In recent 5 years the district has been quickly built up.
The municipal health-improving enterprise "Zhemchuzhina”,
- 10 boarding houses,
- a temporary bathing house are working here and the construction of a
medical hospital is being conducted.
- The number of holiday-makers use the water which freely flows from
chinks.
- The district has a well-equipped platform for autocamping.
- There are also shops, cafes, snackbars, a small house for massage, a
shooting gallery.
- Local people offer guests riding on horses.
- The Buddhist datsan -academy is built here
- and works the visit - centre of State national park "Tunkinsky”.
